Success for Lampeter Writers
Congratulations to Lampeter Writers' Workshop founder member Kathy Miles on her recent runner-up prize in the Penfro Memoir Competition for her piece entitled The Storm.
Judge Cecilia Morreau, said: 'The intricate weave of detail in The Storm is the superb pull of this story. The incident it depicts, an accident the long recovery, is almost secondary to the sheer sensuousness of the descriptions of the writer’s home, garden and the experience of the physical.'
In addition to Kathy Miles' reading of her prize winning memoir, the 2015 Penfro Book Festival featured fellow LWW member Martin Locock who gave a very well received poetry reading from his most recently published collection: 'The Thought of Fresh Rain.' There was also a short performance by Karen Gemma Brewer.
Other LWW members in action this month include Brenda Old, Sarah Eyles, Glenn Hellman and Karen Gemma Brewer who each had work published in the September edition of Lampeter Grapevine.
